It is not just Apartment HF that is Different here in Sydney

Having had my HF radio set up for 3 nights now, I have a preliminary observation to make. While I acknowledge my antennas are not terribly effective, I am learning that winter propagation at 35 degrees latitude is a much different kettle of fish to propagation at 19 degrees latitude.

I make this observation by observation on lots of different bands but the starkest difference is on 15 meters where on every evening in north QLD I would be making PSK31 contacts into Asiatic Russia, then further west in Russia and finally Europe as the sun progressed westward. At this latitude the waterfall is blank.

Opening FLDigi causes interference (noise) to Rx on my Icom IC706MKIIG

I have long used a mix of computers for ham radio when I had a much larger shack. I really like MacLoggerDX so I have started to use my Mac more. A few days ago, I installed a number of ham radio applications including FLDigi. Tonight I began to set up FLDigi and noticed that as soon as I open the application my radio starts to pick up noise. No other application does this. Further investigation required.
